Rugby CAMRA has been awarded the tasting panel for the Golden Ales section of the Regional heat of the Beer of the Year.  The hosting of the blue riband section is a massive boost to the local branch and is a reflection on the number of excellent golden beers available in Rugby and district.
Steve Heighton from CAMRA stated 'The panel is made up of a number of local celebrities who will blind taste 6 of the best golden beers in the Midlands.

The golden ale section is the most highly prized section and so to host this as part of our beer festival is brilliant.  Once the judging has finished then the general public will be able to sample them at the 28th Rugby Beer festival on June 17th and 18th and see which one they think is best'.  Steve also highlighted that not only golden beers but all real ale styles will be available.  He continued 'This is one of Rugby's biggest indoor events and we have around 60 fantastic beers from all over the UK.  We have local and rare beers as well as brand new ales which will debut at the event to be held at Thornfield Bowls Club by the Sports centre, which opens to the public at 3pm on Friday the 17th and all day Saturday'.
