This was one of a number of coaching inns in the area at the cross roads between Rugby & Banbury and Coventry and Northampton. The Dun Cow name was based on a legend of a Monster Cow that roamed Dunsmore Heath in the middle ages.

      The Windmill is a nineteenth century coaching inn that Black Country Ales have re-opened after being closed for a decade. It had previously been re-named the Rugby Tavern for a few years. The interior has been completely re-furbished but appears to be a long established traditional pub. There is a small courtyard at the rear. Bar snacks consisting of fresh cobs, pork pie and sausage rolls are available. Four beers from Black Country Ales, eight guest ales, and three changing ciders or perries are available on handpump.

      The White Hart is a traditional, family run village pub with low ceilings, exposed beams and a large fireplace with a wood-burning stove. There is a large grassed drinking area. The three ales are all sourced from Leicestershire breweries. Good value cheese cobs. Sport is shown on TV. There is a pizza van on Wednesday evenings. Nearby attractions include Stanford Reservoir, and Stanford Hall dating from 1697, which has a museum dedicated to aviator pioneer Percy Pilcher.
